Wyckoff and Waldwick residents enjoy some of the best public schools in Bergen County. All of the schools share the common belief that the school exists for the benefit of each student regardless of his or her capacity for learning, that each student has a unique set of needs, and that it is the school’s goal to help students develop intellectually, socially and emotionally. Schools challenge their students in and out of the classroom. Advanced Placement classes, academic teams, clubs and sports programs are all available for interested students. Wyckoff’s Eisenhower Middle School was name a NJ Star School and designated a National Blue Ribbon School in 2003.
There is no shortage of recreational opportunities in the towns of Wyckoff and Waldwick. Soccer and baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts and parks are scattered throughout. The McFaul Environmental Center offers nature programs, native woodlands, flower gardens and a waterfowl pond. Additionally, there are walking paths for walkers and joggers. The Wyckoff Family YMCA, situated on 14 acres, offers activities for all ages. There are summer day camps, an Olympic-size pool and fitness area and Spring Lake Park, complete with spring-fed water, sandy beaches and picnic tables. Five public golf courses and 11 country clubs are located within 20 miles of the towns. Children will love Bergen County’s Van Saun Park and its large zoo. Winter sports enthusiasts can hit the slopes at the Campshaw Ski Center. Residents of Wyckoff and Waldwick also enjoy annual events such as the Memorial Day Parade, a spectacular Labor Day fireworks display and the Environmental Commission’s Fishing Derby at Zabriskie Pond. |
